We are an independent
advice, training and consultancy partnership, specialising in welfare benefits and issues. As a social enterprise, Impact holds the
Specialist Quality Mark in Welfare Benefits awarded by the Legal Services
Commission and has been given Alternative Office Status by the Pensions,
Disability and Carer’s Services of the Department for Work and Pensions. Based in
We provide training in
all welfare benefits, as well as in advocacy, negotiating skills, community
care issues, rent-setting for tenants with special needs, etc. The training is usually provided on an
in-house basis, tailor-made to meet your requirements and can include add-ons
such as supporting ‘advice-line’ packages.
We have provided consultancy
to Local Authorities, Housing Associations, Nursing Homes, and voluntary
agencies such as MIND, DIAL , etc. We give talks to staff in large organisations
who are affected by retirement, early retirement or
redundancy.
We also work with
housing and voluntary agencies involved in community care, in policy
appraisals, and in systems to maximise income for agency and clients.
Two of the partners, as
independent advisers, works for different firms of
local solicitors. We see clients
individually, under the Legal Help and Advice Scheme, to advise and
assist them with claiming benefits. This
will range from a basic benefit check to appeals to Tribunals and to the Social
Security Commissioner.
Those seeking help under this
Scheme must be on a low income or entitled to Income Support or Income Based
Jobseeker's Allowance or Guaranteed Pension Credit.

These services
are only available free of charge for those who live or work in the Basildon
District Council’s
area.
